Fuglsang is the king of 2019!

the Tour de France was no considerable Danish experience in years, but even though the races are weighted most heavily of all, when a season must be judged, has cykelåret 2019 been the largest ever for Danish cycling.

It is due to essentially two riders, namely Jakob Fuglsang, who has been running his life season, and Mads Pedersen, who in the season ran his life's race. Of all is Fuglsang the rider, who delivered the most impressive season. Even the world champion Mads Pedersen must stand in the shadow of Fuglsang and his distinguished achievements.

none of them shone in the Tour de France, only their imprint on the season even more remarkable, for ‘the world's greatest bicycle race’, as the French like to call it, weigh insanely heavy.

Michael Rasmussen has ago 2015 each year followed the Tour de France as a commentator on Extra Leaf. Here he is photographed in Nantuna before 9. stage in 2017. Photo: Claus Bonnerup / Ritzau Scanpix.

In 2004, when I drove at Rabobank, won the team WORLD championship, Milan-Sanremo and Paris-Tours, but we secured the runners-up in the forårsklassikerne the Amstel Gold Race and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Anyway described the team owner, the Dutch storbank Rabobank, in its annual report the season as ‘mediocre’, because we had been running like a bag of nuts in the Tour de France.

the Year after I won a stage and bjergtrøjen in the Tour de France, while Denis Menchov won the Vuelta. In addition, the yield of the season, something thin, but nevertheless, the Rabobank of the year in a swoon over the season.

It illustrates the fact that the Tour fills up so much in people's minds.

There have been 18 Danish riders on the World Tour level this year and the 16 professionals in the sport 2. division, but it is only a minority that sticks out of the crowd - and some of them do not make it positive.

Jakob Fuglsang has run its life, the season and the topper Michael Rasmussen's list of riders who have delivered the goods in 2019. Photo: Tariq Mikkel Khan.

He has been running a unique season, where he has been running strong from start to finish. He was the strongest of the Ruta del Sol in February and delivered at a high level throughout the season, before he ended with winning a stage in the Vuelta a España and becoming the number four in Lombardy Around.

In april in the Ardennes, he showed himself as the world's best cyclist. He stood in Liège-Bastogne-Liège as storfavorit and ran the whole field out of the rear wheel. It testifies to his high class.

It becomes immensely difficult for him to match or surpass this season, but less can also do it.

Delivered the year's biggest, single performance, when he in a biblical storm in Yorkshire, won the world championship in road cycling. Across sports, there is nothing above or beside.

Now, is a far greater pressure on him, and he has already marked it. He drove three races in the WORLD cup jersey as the end of the season, and he came forth of them all. He had been running in a regular Trek cycling jersey, had no taken no notice of it, but it is different in regnbuetrøjen.

It may be a tough year for him because of the pressure. He has got a whole lot of new best friends, all of whom will have a part of him, and so it is important that he has people around him that can keep him focused on what really goes on.

Kasper Asgreen has run a formidable season, but disappointed however in the time trial at the WORLD championships in Yorkshire. Photo: Tariq Mikkel Khan.

He has just put on over a broad area, and has proven to be insanely durable. He was number two in the monument of Flanders Around and won a mountain stage in California Around, after which he then drove on the cape on fladbane in the same race.

He was viceeuropamester in the time trial, the number two in a Tour stage, and number eight on the time trial in the Tour de France. All in his first full season as a professional.

the Future looks out long and light for Asgreen. It is only a matter of time before he delivers a really great result.

In his first season as a professional showed Jonas Vingegaard his potential when he won a stage in the World Tour over Poland. Photo: Ernst van Norde.

He came very, very nicely in time with his professional career and delivered a big surprise when he won a stage in the World Tour over Poland and took the leader's jersey. It was a nice win, and it draws only a little down, he the day after molten and missed the overall victory.

I am sure that he has fully satisfied on winter break - also with a nice time trial in Denmark Around in memory. Here is a little climber who can also run the time trial. It has the potential for something far greater.

at last got the former ungdomsverdensmester in the time trial once again proved that he can ride a bike. Despite his young age he was already to go a little into oblivion, but even though he has run on the season's worst team, he got shown up.

He took advantage of his somewhat surprising invitation to the Tour de France to the extreme and got to feel what the Tour can do for a rider, that dare poke the snout forward.

His offensive drive made him publikumsyndling in Denmark, and he was thus more out of the race, than he got two WORLD cup titles and a podium finish in Denmark Around some years ago.

Michael Valgren had a miserable start to the season on the Team Dimension of the Data, but he turned out after the Tour de France as the klasserytter, he is. Photo: Tariq Mikkel Khan.

In the light of the high expectations set for him after his awesome the 2018 season, he was until after the Tour de France a big disappointment. He came to Dimension Data as a leader in a profitable contract, but he turned out not to be a bent femøre worth it.

Only after the Tour de France he showed that he still is a klasserytter, when he was number four in Brittany Classic and sixth at the WORLD cup.

Demonstrated during the Tour the habit to mention during his ‘summer vacation’. Fortunately, it was instead a training camp, which put him in position to finish the season with honor.

Jesper Hansen switched from Astana to Cofidis and was presented in the media by his new boss, Cedric Vasseur, with high expectations. Them, he lived not up to that. Photo: Ernst van Norde.

most should probably just check the network statistiksider to be able to put a name to a race, as Jesper Hansen has been running for years. He has been largely invisible in his first season at Cofidis, where he not made the cut for the Tour de France.

surely it is that his boss, Cedric Vasseur, has not met its goal to make Jesper Hansen more known in France than Jakob Fuglsang. It was also a rather ambitious goal for a person, which in itself does not attract much attention.

Hansen has earlier in his career, delivered the goods on occasion, but this year he has not seized the chance.

Søren Kragh Andersen began the season of his life the form and downloaded in its sæsondebut in Portugal ranked second in the etapeløbet Volta ao Algarve. Unfortunately, it was the season's highlight. Photo: Ernst van Norde.

Laid out well in the etapeløbet Volta ao Algarve in Portugal, where he was number two, but it turned out unfortunately to be the season's highlight.

Affected by the disease and the damage could Kragh Andersen only see it all crumble, and it was actually symptomatic of the whole of the Sunweb team, which this season failed collectively.

Kragh Andersen's qualities have not disappeared from day to day. He has not forgotten to ride a bike, so his flop of a season must be attributed to the accident. It may unfortunately just not be read by the statistics, that it is the reason for his failure.
