Convicted after use of the towel: Now he unleashes

In the first instance, it was reported that the swimmer Gabriel da Silva Santos last year was tested positive for anabolic steroids, because he had touched - for example, the pressure of the hand with - his brother, who was under treatment for a skin disorder and used a cream with the substance clostebol.

Now it turns out that it was rather the use of towels in the bathroom, as also the brother used that led to the positive test sample, as Gabriel da Silva Santos delivered in may.

Although, under all the circumstances, it was established that the positive test was due to the so-called cross-contamination - that is, indirect and accidental ‘pollution’ - was the swimmer was sentenced to one year of quarantine.

The ruling is now overturned by the sport arbitration court, the CAS, in Switzerland. In a press release states the CAS that Gabriel da Silva Santos has committed a dopingforseelse, but that he did not bear guilt for the offence and has acted with negligence.

An athlete is, according to the rules set by the world anti-doping agency WADA at any time responsible for, what is in his body, and, therefore, has CAS only decided that Gabriel da Silva Santos impunity.

He is therefore, in principle still guilty of doping.

‘It is found that Gabriel Da Silva Santos has committed a violation of anti-doping rules, as he does not have to bear the guilt of, and, as he has not imposed any quarantine for,’ saith the CAS's decision.
