The former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger may be on the way to take over the vacant trænerjob in Bayern Munich.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge rejected the earlier in the week that the 70-year-old frenchman was an opportunity, after the southern German club have sacked Nico Kovac.
Friday revealed Wenger, that he has been contacted by Rummenigge.
- He asked me if I would be interested, as he was looking for a trainer, says Arsène Wenger to the tv station BeIN Sports.
The currently unemployed, who do not understand why Bayern-the president has stated that Wenger was not an option. He tells that they spoke together in four to five minutes.
- It is a surprising story.
I said to him that I was going to have to think about it and need a little time. We agreed, that we in the coming week having to talk on the phone. It is the true story, says Wenger.
From 1996 to 2018, Arsène Wenger manager of the English Arsenal. After that he stopped for good a year ago, he has not been in the job.
Bayern Munich has fired in the last week, Nico Kovac and have placed assistant coach Hans-Dieter Flick as a temporary replacement.
