Absolutely crazy: Got a yellow card – for the fan's sake

Resultamæssigt was 2019 season, something smooth in it for IF Elfsborg, who finished as number eight in the group have won....

Anyway comes danskerklubben from Borås to put a small mark in the history of Swedish club football. It grieved Jesper Karlsson and ago Per Frick for in overtime of the final game away to Helsingborg on Saturday.

And so even on a tremendously unsporting manner!

both times they allowed themselves at the free-kick Helsingborg to shoot the ball away, so the referee Joakim Östling had not other choice than to assign them a yellow card.

Karlsson and Frick, however, had their reasons, and it would equally be for the spectators ' sake as their own. Yes, well actually only for the spectators.

For the two yellow cards was the team's 84. and the 85. in the season in 30 games! And this is a record in Swedish football. The previous record was equalled in the 75. minutes of Stian Gregersen, which prompted the crowd to cheer, just like the buhede, as the same Gregersen earlier in the showdown not got a yellow card in an episode where he could have acquired it.

- I heard, how fans buhede, as Stian had not received a warning, how they rejoiced as Deniz (Hümmet, red.) got a yellow card earlier in the match. They would have the record, then they should get it, said Karlsson to the Borås Tidning after the match.

So, one can laugh or cry about it.

85 yellow cards in 30 matches is intense. Simon Beach tops the statistics with 12 cards in 25 matches, while the Per Frick is number two with nine yellow cards. Also the Danish Kevin Stuhr-Ellegaard and Frederik Holst is represented with three each. In return Elfsborg only got three red cards in the whole season.

It is inversely impressive for a team that apparently can go to vaflerne.

head Coach Jimmy Thelin, who got a 2-1 win over Helsingborg to go on winter holidays with, didn't know quite how he should relate to it.

I didn't think much of it. It is clear that there are some maps which we could have avoided this year, it came dry from him.

A quick review of the 30 league games shows that the away game against Sundsvall 26. august (six yellow) and hjemmekampen against Häcken 2. June (five yellow plus a red) were the top performers, while Elfsborg twice in the season managed to get from the field completely without any yellow or red cards.
