While the football world waits for Real Madrid to make the high-profile signing of Kylian Mbappé official, the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, has gone ahead and revealed details of the operation. In an interview with the Argentine newspaper ‘Olé’ he takes the signing for granted and even advances the duration of the contract between the French forward and the white club.

“Mbappé? He’s from Madrid next year. He is one of the best players in the world, but so are Vinícius and Bellingham. Madrid is going to have a great squad,” says Tebas. Although he recognizes that this “does not give a guarantee of winning championships,” he maintains that “if they have signed him a five-year contract, he has five seasons of opportunity.”

In an extensive interview that will be published in full this Tuesday, Tebas also talks about Real Madrid’s competitive gene and the exciting semifinal against Borussia Dortmund: “The epic is something that could be said to be within Real Madrid. Because it happens season after season. And he is becoming a champion of the issues. Sometimes you don’t get it all. But most of the time he wins. This marks a bit of the validity of La Liga, right?”

Tebas also wanted to make it clear that LaLiga is much more than the individualities of its stars: “Not only does having great players make a great competition, we have to ask many more questions. And if you don’t do them, you never get to have a great competition. We do many to have a great competition and we bring players. And new players always appear. At Barcelona I already saw Yamal as a boy, or Pedri or Gavi. And in Madrid, Vinícius, Bellingham and in what is to come, Mbappé.”

The president of LaLiga is in Argentina to participate as a speaker at Sportel, an event for the world of sports and broadcasters that starts this Tuesday. During his trip to this country he offered an interview with the renowned newspaper ‘Olé’. The full interview will be published this Tuesday.
