A cable theft has affected the circulation of trains on line R5 of the Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) in Olesa de Montserrat for a while.

Specifically, the theft has forced the cancellation of the R50 train at 6:19 a.m. bound for Plaça Espanya between Manresa and Olesa; and also the R5 train at 6:39 a.m. with the same destination between Manresa Baixador and Monistrol. FGC has reported that at seven in the morning the service was normal.

The robbery took place between the Olesa and l’Aeri de Montserrat railway stations, at the exit of the La Puda tunnel, which ended with two people arrested.

Two Railway security guards who were patrolling received a notice of a power outage at 4:40 a.m. and went to the specific point where the cable had been cut. At this point, the security guards intercepted the perpetrators (two people) inside the vehicle with the intention of fleeing. They held them until the Mossos d’Esquadra arrived.
