Fields like colored carpets in La Garrotxa

In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can admire the carpet of colors of the green and yellow valley of Vall d'en Bas, seen from Sant Miquel de Castelló.

The Vall d'en Bas, in the Garrotxa, shines at the head of the Fluvià river, surrounded by the mountains of Corb, Sant Miquel, Llancers and Puigsacalm (1515 m).

Sant Miquel de Castelló is a hermitage built on a buttress of the Serrat de Sant Miquel, within the Serra dels Llancers, in the northeast of the Collsacabra massif.

The municipality of Vall d'en Bas has a landscape marked by chestnut, oak, holm oak and beech trees, but the color of the fields stands out, especially in spring.

The concentration of agricultural land among the farmers of the valley and the creation of the farmers' cooperative, at the beginning of the 70s, gave a notable boost to agricultural and livestock activity, as can be seen in the photographs.

The Vall d'en Bas has two centers cataloged as historical-artistic ensembles: the villa del Mallol, located on a hill, and the center of Hostalets d'en Bas, which has its origins in hostels located at the foot of the old real road that went from Olot to Vic.
