The number of unemployed has fallen by 1.15% in Andalusia in the last year and has stood at 744,600, according to data from the Active Population Survey (EPA) published this Thursday for the second quarter of the year.

Compared to the first quarter of this year, unemployment fell by 0.17% in the Andalusian community, a total of 1,300 fewer unemployed and the unemployment rate stood at 18.05%, compared to 11.6% in all Spain. It is one of the lowest unemployment figures in the region, although it is still above the average for Spain.

Regarding occupation, Andalusia stands at 3,380,100 employed persons, 1.58% more than in the previous quarter and 3.10% more than in the first quarter of last year.

In absolute terms, in Andalusia the number of employed increased by 101,600 compared to the second quarter of 2022 and by 52,600 compared to the first quarter of this year.

By gender, the total number of employed Andalusians is 1,862,500 men and 1,517,600 women, while there are 335,000 unemployed men and 409,000 women.

The male activity rate stands at 62.71% and the unemployment rate at 15.24%, while the female activity rate stands at 52.54% and the unemployment rate at 21.25%.

At the national level, the number of employed persons totaled 603,900 people in the second quarter of the year, due to the drive of the service sector, reaching the historical maximum of 21,056,700 workers, while the number of unemployed fell by 365,300, until leaving the total in 2,762,500 people.

According to EPA data, the unemployment rate thus stands at 11.6%, 1.67 points less than in the previous quarter and the lowest figure in 15 years, which means that this rate recovers 2008 levels .

Regarding employment, in a normally good quarter for employment, it increased by 610,000 in the private sector, while it decreased by 6,200 in the public sector.
