The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid, at the request of the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, approved this Tuesday to award the Gold Medal of the Community of Madrid to Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias, Mrs. Leonor.

The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García, reported this at a press conference, coinciding with the Princess’s oath of the Constitution, a solemn act held in the Congress of Deputies.

This is an honorary distinction that Ayuso will give to the heir to the Crown and that recognizes individuals or institutions. After approval by the Government Council, the agreement will be published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM). This same distinction was received by Their Majesties the Kings of Spain, Felipe VI and Letizia, in 2007 when they held the title of Princes of Asturias.

Ayuso defended this week the role of the monarchy as the form of organization of the State “that has best established Spain over the centuries” and maintained that this was “a day to remember.”
