The school voucher will be extended to secondary school next year and will reduce its amount: 70 euros per child

The school voucher will arrive next year at secondary school, but its amount will be reduced: 70 euros per child. The measure has begun to be implemented this year in the primary education stage, providing 100 euros per child without distinction of income and many voices have requested that the aid apply to all compulsory education, which goes up to secondary school. The measure, which will be explained this Tuesday by the president of the Generalitat Pere Aragonés in Parliament within the framework of the general policy debate, has been advanced by TV3 and confirmed by the ACN news agency.

According to the Government, the 460,000 primary school students in public and charter schools will be joined by 330,000 secondary school students. Thus, it will reach about 790,000 in total. The objective is to universalize the measure and will mean an increase in spending from the previous year, up to 55 million euros.

The Government highlights that the universal measure will reach all students in compulsory education. For the next year, students from 1st to 4th ESO will also receive a school voucher to buy stationery, textbooks, calculators, backpacks or educational games, as primary school students have done this year.

The Government's objective is to continue minimizing the impact of inflation and price increases, and to help families with expenses related to schooling. The executive values the operation of this year's school voucher as a success. And he plans to introduce improvements for the next course. Last week the Minister of Education Anna Simó explained that more than 70% of families had already spent the voucher, which can be redeemed until November, and that 90% had activated it.

The executive points out that the desire is to find a way to allocate the school voucher to the purchase of material, taking advantage of the work carried out by the Student Family Associations since, in many cases, they are in charge of managing the material. In this way, families will be able to decide whether to spend the school voucher to purchase materials in accredited stores or do so through the Student Family Associations.
