A 16-year-old girl was flown to a Portland hospital after a rollover crash involving a suspected intoxicated driver, Bend police said Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to the single-car crash around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in south Bend and found a Honda Civic that rolled through two fences, according to a police news release. Pictures released by the department show the car wound up on its roof near a small building.
Witnesses told officers they saw the eastbound Civic driving fast on Knott Road before the crash near Brosterhous Road.
Raven Bright, the driver, and a 14-year-old girl escaped the wreckage. Bright, 19, and the other teen went to a nearby home for help, police said. When emergency crews arrived, they found an unconscious 16-year-old female who was rushed to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with serious injuries, police said.
The teen is expected to survive. She was later flown to a hospital in Portland for further treatment, police said. Bright and the 14-year-old girl were also treated at the hospital.
Officers accused Bright of driving under the influence of intoxicants, two counts of third-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, reckless driving and criminal mischief. Officers released her from custody at the hospital.
The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office jail website has no information with her name, and no other details were released by police.
