Suspect leads police on car, foot chase in Granada Hills

GRANADA HILLS >> A driver suspected of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer was being sought Tuesday after he fled at the end of a chase in Granada Hills.

The suspect abandoned the van he was driving at the end of a cul de sac and took off running about 7:40 p.m. in the area of the Knollwood Country Club, which is in the 12000 block of Balboa Boulevard, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

The chase lasted about 10 minutes, Lopez said.

The suspect drove on streets and the 118 Freeway before exiting in Granada Hills, according to CBS2, which reported that the van also clipped a pickup truck.

No information was immediately available about when the chase began or the nature of the alleged assault.
