Parma Heights bakery has 'paczki fever' on Fat Tuesday

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio - Samosky's Home Bakery has been in business since 1910, and owner Erika Rockocy and her staff have been making paczki for many years now.

Samosky's Home Bakery is located at 6379 Pearl Road, but it was originally in Slavic Village on Fleet Avenue.

On Fat Tuesday, Rockocy estimated that they would be selling over 800 dozen of the Polish delicacies over the course of the day.

Customers started lining up for paczki early Tuesday morning. Some of them who had pre-ordered their paczki ended up buying more while they were there.

Six employees quickly handled the customers after calling out the numbers taken at the door.

A steady stream of hungry customers filled the bakery until late in the afternoon Fat Tuesday.

The Polish tradition of enjoying paczki the day before Lent starts never tasted so good.
