Dr. Seuss: Happy Birthday to You!

The Medina County District Library is saluting the Birthday Bird himself - Dr. Seuss - March 1-6.

Beloved children's author Dr. Seuss (Theodore Geisel) would have turned 113 on March 2. In honor of the master of rhymes and silliness, the district's children's departments are celebrating with the following programs:

* Dr. Seuss on the Loose - All day March 1-4, Brunswick Library, 3649 Center Road. Celebrate the works of Dr. Seuss all week with activities and games.

* Dr. Seuss Day - All day March 2 at the Highland, Lodi, Medina and Seville branches. Games and activities for all ages.

* Seuss and Song - 10:30 a.m. March 6, Buckeye Library, 6625 Wolff Road, Medina. In addition to his wonderfully wacky children's stories, Dr. Seuss also wrote songs. Join us for song, dance and audience participation, with a little help from the Center Kaçak İddaa for Arts-Inspired Learning. For all ages, with adult. Registration is required. Call 330-273-4150 or visit www.mcdl.info/events.

Visit your local library to register to vote or to apply for an absentee ballot for the May 2 election.

The deadline to register is April 3.

The libraries have everything you need to vote: voter registration forms, absentee ballot applications and computers to access online resources.

You can also register to vote, update your information or request an absentee ballot online through the Medina County Board of Elections at www.medinacountyelections.org.

Absentee ballot applications can be dropped off at your local library until April 25 or at the Board of Elections by April 29.

Absentee voting begins April 4. All ballots must be returned to the Board of Elections, not the library. These can be dropped off in person by 7:30 p.m. May 2 or mailed to the Medina County Board of Elections, 3800 Stonegate Drive, Suite C, Medina OH 44256 with a postmark of no later than May 2.

The Board of Elections also offers walk-in early voting. Visit their website for official hours.

Remember, the library district has a levy on the May 2 ballot. The levy would renew the current 1.25-mill, 10-year levy that is set to expire in December. It would also add an additional 0.25 mills, for a total of 1.5 mills.

For more information about the levy, visit www.mcdl.info and click on the Discover Your Story box on the right-hand side of the home page.
