Little Tikes recalls 540,000 swings due to faulty seat

The children’s toy company Little Tikes has recalled 540,000 of its toddler swings — and urged parents to stop using them — after it received about 140 reports of the units breaking, leaving two kids with broken arms.

The company — and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission — recalled the 2-in-1 Snug ‘n Secure pink toddler swings, manufactured between Nov. 2009 and Dec. 2013, with the model number 615573 on the back of the seat, according to a notice posted on the company’s website.

“The plastic seat can crack or break, Timebet posing a fall hazard,” the notice said.

Walmart, Toys “R” Us and other nationwide and online stores were selling the swings.

The company asked that parents immediately stop using the swing. They may contact Little Tikes to receive credit toward another purchase.

This isn’t the company’s first recall. Back in Sept. 2011, Little Tikes recalled more than 1.7 million toy workshop and tool sets because of a choking hazard.
