CLEVELAND, Ohio - With more than a week remaining in a national contest that aims to tab the best brewpub in the country, Great Lakes Brewing Co. remains atop the leaderboard.
The contest - one in a series from USA Today - has Ohio's first craft brewery atop the voting, with Boxing Bear Brewing Co. of Albuquerque second and Titletown Brewing Co. of Green Bay third. Titletown - whose logo is a football with hop-plant laces - won it last year.
One vote per day is allowed. Voting is open through noon Monday, March 13. Winners will be announced Friday, March 17 - St. Patrick's Day.
That would seem to be a perfect time to release a special beer (Contest Cream Ale? Championship Cask Ale?) or hold a party commemorating the honors. The folks at the brewery are mulling. Stay tuned ...
