Chick-fil-A opening in Linthicum Heights marked by road trip and year of free meals for 100

Chick-fil-A will open a location Thursday in Linthicum Heights, marked by a grand opening road trip and one-year supply of free meals offered to 100 customers.

A day-long community service-oriented road trip on Wednesday, hosted by franchise operator Billy McGrath, will replace the typical Chick-fil-A opening event in which customers camp out overnight to win the free meal supply. The new store is opening at 1610 W. Nursery Road in Linthicum Heights.

Participants, who are 18 or older and live in specific zip codes near the store, can start lining up at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. The first 100 to sign up will leave mid morning and travel around Baltimore on buses for about six hours, "engaged in team building and community service activities at stops along the way."

At the end of the road trip, participants will take part in a a block party and book donations to Linthicum Elementary School before being awarded the free meals on a digital card.
