Cannibal suspect breaks down

An accused face-biting cannibal broke down in tears and whined to Dr. Phil that he was “so sorry” for savagely killing a couple in their Florida home last August, according to a new report.

“I’m so sorry, it’s like a nightmare,” a sobbing Austin Harrouff, 20, blubbered from his hospital bed after the 2016 slayings during an interview scheduled to be aired Thursday on the Dr. Phil show, The Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday.

The Florida State University student granted Dr. Phil McGraw the exclusive interview several weeks before he was charged with the murders of John Stevens, 59, and Michelle Mishcon, 53, in the garage of their Jupiter, Fla., home on August 15.

WPEC-CBS 12, a local Florida affiliate, recently obtained a short clip of the discussion and published it Monday on its website.

In the clip, Harrouff begged for the victims’ families to forgive him.

“I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me,” Harrouff pleaded. “And I’m so sorry and I never wanted this to happen.”

Dr. Phil then asked Harrouff if he felt ashamed by his disgusting behavior. To which, the alleged face muncher replied, “Yes, yes, yes…yes.”

The Martin County Florida State Attorney’s Office was expected to release the entire 20-minute interview Tuesday morning.

Harrouff’s defense team had tried to stop the release of the video, but a judge ordered that the full interview be made public.

One of Harrouff’s defense lawyers, Nellie King, said the video was “just one of many pieces of evidence demonstrating the deterioration of Austin’s mental health.”

King has told People magazine that Harrouff was “struggling with severe mental illness” when he randomly attacked the couple.

In the hours prior to the assault, Harrouff’s parents overheard him saying that he had “superpowers” and was immortal,” King told People.

Martin County Sheriff’s deputies described a violent and chaotic scene the night of the murders with Harrouff yelling at them to ““F—- kill me, f—- kill me! Shoot me now! I deserve to die!”

He also allegedly told investigators, “Help me, I ate something bad,” after he had munched on Stevens’ face.
