Bootcamps, the intensive shortcut to have a better job and salary

In 2021 there were more than 300,000 unfilled positions in Spain due to lack of technological qualification. According to Infojobs, sectors such as IT and telecommunications are some of the categories with the most difficulties in finding workers. Given the lack of digital skills, bootcamps have been gaining ground, a type of intensive training focused on promoting employability in the technology sector.

A bootcamp is an intensive course whose objective is to obtain practical training in a short time. The term bootcamp, which means 'training camp', has its origins in military training and refers to the training that future soldiers receive to face real situations. In recent years, this concept has been transferred to the educational field.

The first bootcamps appeared in Silicon Valley a decade ago to train workers at technology companies in specific areas. This type of training has spread throughout the rest of the world and today they are an option that many people in our country choose.

Unlike a Master, which usually lasts one year, bootcamps usually last a few months; That is why it is said that it is an intensive training. In a short period of time, students acquire knowledge and skills that would traditionally take much longer to learn.

The bootcamps are an eminently practical training (unlike the Masters, where the predominant content is theoretical). In fact, these courses are governed by the motto “learning by doing” or, what comes to the same thing, “learn by doing”. Although it depends on the training center, bootcamps usually incorporate many practical exercises. In addition, in all of them a final project is carried out that serves as a personal portfolio.

This intensive training does not require minimum requirements: anyone without previous experience can take a bootcamp. Many people use this training to change their professional course, acquiring digital skills in demand to change jobs. Others, however, opt for a bootcamp to specialize in some area within their job.

In addition, bootcamps usually have an advisory department designed to support students when it comes to improving their employability and actively looking for a job. Sometimes, the training centers that teach these intensive courses have agreements with specialized companies in the sector.

There are all kinds of bootcamps, although all of them are usually related to programming and web design. In this way, we can find bootcamps for Full Stack Developer, UX/UI design, data science or mobile application development, among others.

The Full Stack Web Developer Bootcamp taught by Socratech is an intensive web page programming training based on practice and real projects from real companies. It is a training that has a duration of sixteen weeks, where the student has the constant support of a personal tutor.

For its part, the CEI School of Design and Marketing's Web Development, UX and UI Bootcamp lasts between seven and eight months where students will get a global vision of the web development sector, user experience (UX) and interface design (UI). This training has specific modules, such as web design with Wordpress, Frontend with Javascript and Jquery, backend with PHP7 and MYSQL.
