A total of 33 immigrants swim into Ceuta through the border breakwaters

A total of 33 immigrants, most of them from Algeria and among them two under 17 years of age, have managed, between this past dawn and this afternoon, to swim into Ceuta in one of the most numerous attempts that have occurred since 2021.

As sources from the armed institute have informed EFE, the first entry, of 29 people, has presumably been programmed by them, who have been jumping into the water at dawn from the Moroccan coast closest to the Tarajal border and two others by the Benzú border.

The Civil Guard agents have verified that the immigrants have managed to reach the coast of Ceuta by swimming, after which they have been intercepted on the same shore.

The first two immigrants entered at 3:30 a.m. through the Benzú beach -in the waters of the southern bay-, 18 more did so at 06:30 a.m. through the Tarajal beach and 9 of them entered around 10:00 a.m. at the beach of the Almadraba, the latter two in the waters of the south bay of the city.

A total of 16 immigrants who have entered come from Algeria, 7 are from Morocco, 3 from Syria and one from Tunisia, Guinea Conakry and Sudan, with two under 17 years of age and the rest between 18 and 37 years of age.

A few hours later, around 1:00 p.m., another four immigrants -two from Algeria and two from Syria, between the ages of 23 and 28-, managed to access through the border breakwater at Tarajal beach, and were intercepted at the same shore of the beach by the Civil Guard.

All of them were in good health and did not need to be transferred to the University Hospital.

The Civil Guard has deployed a special operation in the area to care for these people and volunteers from the Spanish Red Cross have also been deployed to provide care.

Immigrants will be transferred to the Temporary Immigrant Stay Center (CETI) while Moroccans will be returned to their country, as usually happens in this type of clandestine entry.

The first hypotheses suggest that the immigrants had agreed to jump into the sea, especially taking advantage of the good weather in these last hours.

The entry of this group is the largest that has occurred in Ceuta since on May 17 and 18, 2021, more than 12,000 people entered the city precisely through the same border breakwater where this incident has been recorded in the last few hours. access.
