A SAMU 061 technician dies while transferring a patient from Manacor to Palma

A 48-year-old technician from SAMU 061 died this Saturday while carrying out a secondary, non-urgent transfer of a patient from Manacor to Palma.

The death of this man, SAMU 061 technician since 1995, has been communicated through a message published on the social network X (former Twitter).

The SAMU 061 technician was carrying out a secondary, non-urgent transfer of a patient from Manacor to Palma. However, at the Vilafranca roundabout, he began to feel unwell, as a result of cardiorespiratory arrest.

The man has managed to park the ambulance, thus preventing an accident and preventing other vehicles or people from being involved.

The SAMU 061 technician's colleagues have begun pulmonary resuscitation maneuvers. And, finally, the man has been transferred to the Son Espases University Hospital, where he unfortunately died.

After the news of the death, condolences have been expressed by SAMU 061 itself and the Health Department of the Balearic Government.

"Today is a sad day in our service for having to mourn the loss of our colleague Andreu R. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace," they said from SAMU 061.

"Our condolences and support to the family, friends and colleagues of the SAMU 061 coach. I remember this great professional forever. May he rest in peace," added the Ministry.
