A bather finds a grenade from the Civil War in the Noguera Pallaresa river

More than eighty years after the end of the Spanish Civil War, remains of those years can still be found in our territory. The last occurrence was that of a hand grenade found by a bather in the Noguera Pallaresa river as it passed through Alós d'Isil, in Pallars Sobirà.

The explosive device posed a danger to bathers. It was 1.60 meters deep and still had the safety ring, as shown by the images that the Mossos have shared on Twitter.

Ordnance disposal specialist unit Tedax has safely removed it from the area and destroyed it. According to the police, the grenade had been in the river for a long time and the movements of water currents would have left him exposed.
