Zeus, the tallest dog in the world with a height of 1,046 meters, has died at the age of three after fighting a tough battle against cancer, as confirmed this Wednesday by the family on their Instagram account. This Great Dane, resident in Texas (USA), received the Guinness World Record award just one year ago, in 2022.

"My Zeusy is gone. He is no longer suffering. Mom was there holding his head and scratching his ears every second," explains his owner in a heartfelt publication, accompanied by a recent photograph of the animal.

The dog was recently diagnosed with bone cancer, forcing veterinarians to amputate his right front leg. After the operation, everything became more complicated. The dog developed pneumonia, which caused multiple complications and which he was ultimately unable to overcome. He lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday, September 12.

In her farewell to the community of followers, Denise assures that Zeus was very loved and that "he had a great life", despite his young age. She also took the opportunity to thank the willingness of the specialists who treated him: "His doctors tried absolutely everything, since he was too sick."

In 2022, Zeus was recognized by the Guinness World Record as the tallest dog in the world, replacing another Great Dane who held the title. The dog reached a height of 1,046 meters.

Having a dog of that size was not easy. "The only drawback is that everything costs more: food, medicine, transportation. We had to get a van to transport it, oh, and if it steps on your foot, it leaves bruises!" the owner explained to this organization. .

Despite his height, he never had any problems with the neighbors or with the people who approached him, surprised by the size of the animal. "The most common thing people ask is, 'Is it a dog or a horse?' and 'Where's his saddle?'" says Denis.

"Zeus was a truly special dog. He was gentle, loving, very stubborn, but always happy to see his family and many, many friends on his adventures through Dallas and Fort Worth," concludes Denise's father.
