Wine fairs fill the entire Catalan geography

A great diversity of wine fairs fills the entire Catalan geography during these spring days, from Empordà to Penedès, passing through Bages, Priorat, Garraf or Baix Camp. Arrels del Vi celebrates its 15th anniversary with more wineries than ever today Saturday and tomorrow Sunday, in Sant Martí d'Empúries (L'Escala). A total of 30 wineries participate, which will offer more than 100 high-end references. At the fair you will be able to taste some of the best wines of the Empordà, such as the winners of this year's awards: Vins de Postal Camí de Mollet 2019 from Celler Cooperatiu d'Espolla (best white); Caminito 2022 from Terra Remote (best rosé); Soques 2018 from Vinyes dels Aspres (best red); Bac de les Ginesteres from Vinyes del Aspres (best sweet) and Tripolar dolce 2021 from Celler RIM (best unusual wine).

Until tomorrow, the thirteenth edition of Reus Viu el Vi, the fair of the denominations of origin of the demarcation of the Chamber of Reus (the DOs Catalunya, Priorat, Montsant, Terra Alta, Conca de Barberà, Tarragona and Cava) and the fourth edition of the Mostra del Vermut in the capital of Baix Camp. There will be 24 wineries and 8 gastronomic stands. In Vilafranca del Penedès, the fourth edition of the Mercat Vins Rebels Fair is being organized this Saturday and Sunday. On La Rambla de la Generalitat there will be more than 200 minimal intervention wines from more than 40 wineries.

Today returns a new edition of the Festa de la Floració de la Carretera del Vi in Masia Torreblanca, in Sant Miquel de Olèrdola. From 6:30 p.m. to midnight, the farmhouse and its surroundings will host a wine and cava showroom from the 13 wineries that make up La Carretera del Vi, wine tourism, cultural and recreational activities, live music and a final party with DJ, with the accompaniment of a gastronomic proposal. Also this Saturday, in the Església de Gratallops square, from 7 to 11 p.m., a wine fair from wineries from this Priorat town with live music is held. It reaches its fifth edition and is organized by the Gratallops City Council. Lots of wines will be raffled, and you can buy those offered at the fair at special prices.

Terra Remota, in Sant Climent Sescebes (Alt Empordà), is hosting today a day of art, nature, music and wine. The program will begin at 11 am with a visit to the winery and a tasting of its wines, to continue later with a picnic in the vineyards. Throughout the day you can visit the exhibitions of the artists Julien Laporte, Clément Cividino and Fabien Vinot. Music will accompany the day. There will be a performance by Alain Laurens (soul/electro), Tato García (Catalan rumba) and B'Noise

Today and tomorrow the ViBa del Bages Fair reaches its sixth edition in the courtyard of the Casino de Manresa. During the afternoon of this Saturday and all Sunday there will be a sample of wines from the DO Pla de Bages wineries, live music, food trucks, children's activities and, as a novelty, agri-food producers from Rebost del Bages and the Xarxa de Productes de la Terra that will offer tapas to pair the wines. And the members of the Taula de l'Oli del Bages will present their oils. As a novelty, during this weekend guided visits and itineraries to the Bages wine heritage will be offered in a commitment to "encourage weekend stays in Manresa and the region, and to promote knowledge and discovery of the Wine Route and all its agents.

From the 8th to the 11th of June, the Plaza de Catalunya in Barcelona will host Tast a la Rambla, the ninth edition of the Barcelona Gastronomy Week, with the participation of Catalan wines from Prodeca. From June 9 to 11, the Temps de Vi fair will set sail in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Garraf), which has the incentive of offering wine tastings on boats, but next Thursday there will be a dinner at the Gambarrada restaurant paired with wines from the Torre del Veguer winery. Tocs de Vi de l'Empordà lives its tenth edition from June 5 to 10 in Girona. The central event will be held in Plaza Independència de Girona, on the 9th and 10th, where 13 wineries will offer their wines. Unlike other years, they will be paired with tastings of local products offered by the Girona Excellent food quality seal and from various establishments in the city. On June 10, it will be the Night of the Mines in Bellmunt del Priorat, with up to 17 wineries, the cuisine of the restaurants Atzucac and Ferran Cerro de Reus and music.

On the afternoon of June 10, Jean Leon celebrates a new edition of ViArt. For the seventh edition, the Torrelavit winery (Alt Penedès) proposes a three-way pairing, combining opera, the pictorial works of Josep Guinovart and the wines of Jean Leon. They also host the exhibition 'Naturae', by the scientific illustrator, biologist and biology teacher Assun Savall. The exhibition can be visited until Monday, June 26.

A total of 55 winegrowers will participate in the second edition of the Fira de Nous Vinyataires Naturals de Catalunya that will take place on the 11th and 12th at the MamBo tavern, in Sant Llorenç d'Hortons (Alt Penedès). The meeting will be held inside the Finca Parera winery and the Municipal Hall of this town in Penedès. The organizers hope to receive around a thousand visitors between Sunday and Monday.

The Claustre de Sant Francesc in Vilafranca del Penedès will experience the fourteenth edition of the Nit dels Xarel·los on June 17, with gastronomic proposals from the El Gat Blau restaurant. A pairing session with the sommeliers Bruno Tannino and Javier Campo and a blind wine tasting contest in pairs will be the technical sessions that will open the third edition of the Fira Tastavins de Juneda (Les Garrigues) on Saturday, June 17. In the afternoon, the wine show with 22 confirmed wineries, tapas and music will be the highlight of the programme. The wine sample will be held in Plaza Catalunya with wineries from five Catalan appellations of origin. It is a fair that will also have tapas tastings and musical atmosphere.

And the month of June will close on the 26th in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Foix, in Torrelles de Foix (Alt Penedès), with the seventh edition of the Xarel·lo Summit, where thirty wineries will offer more than a hundred wines made with this autochthonous variety of the Penedès. In addition, last Monday the third edition of the Corpinnat Gastronomic Festival was presented in Barcelona. The participation of more than 30 dinners has already been confirmed, which will be held between June 15 and July 31 in unique spaces of the wineries that make sparkling wines that are part of this association. The dinner includes a previous visit to each winery.

From July 7 to 9, Vilafranca del Penedès will also host the sixteenth edition of Vijazz, where international jazz and wines and cavas from Penedès are paired. This year, performances such as bassist Marcus Miller, singer and pianist Kandace Springs or vocalist José James stand out.
