This incontinence is caused by a loss of control of the bladder and the muscles of the pelvic area. In women, it can occur later in life, as a result of pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. But in the elderly it affects men and women equally. As a consequence, urine losses appear, which reduce the person's quality of life.

When urinary incontinence makes an appearance, it usually starts progressively, with slight losses at specific moments that can be solved with the use of a special compress for that purpose.
However, this incontinence usually progresses and gets worse over time. The leaks may only occur at night, so it would only be necessary to incorporate the diaper to sleep. On other occasions, they occur throughout the day when the person cannot quickly access a bathroom because they are out, but they have no problem doing it at home, so the diaper could only be used to go outside.
But if the leaks are more frequent, even at home because the person does not get to the bathroom on time or is a dependent person with reduced mobility or even bedridden, the diaper is necessary permanently.
