Virtual reality comes to the Barcelona Cathedral

New attraction of the Barcelona Cathedral. Since this month of November, the Barcelona temple has added to its visits the possibility of seeing this building through virtual reality, a perspective never seen before. "The Cathedral incorporates virtual reality to complement the traditional and tourist visit," the dean of the cathedral explained this Thursday.

The immersive experience allows users to discover the cathedral "from a bird's eye view" through a tour of its most emblematic spaces such as the cloister, the crypt of Santa Eulàlia or the vaults.

The service is located right in the cloister of the Cathedral, where rotating stools are installed from which the virtual visit can be enjoyed through reality glasses of the Oculus Quest2 model.

With the guidance of the Cathedral's heritage team, the company Vocces has used a recording system combining drones with 360-degree cameras, recreations, graphics, infographics and illustrations, with a soundtrack that "intensifies the sensational experience."

The 30 immersive stations, the points from which you can enjoy the virtual tour, have been designed specifically for Barcelona Cathedral and, for this purpose, high-quality virtual reality glasses are used.

Visitors can choose between seven languages - Catalan, Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Chinese - and with this virtual reality initiative the cathedral "enriches" its tourist and cultural visits.
