Tips on How to Make Restaurant Style Salads Straight From Your Home Kitchen

Have you ever asked yourself why the restaurant made salads taste different? You may have tried making your version of a particular salad dish, but the taste does not even come close. There may be something different in the way they prepare the ingredients and the dressing as compared to how you do it.

Salads are great appetizers, and they are healthy too. Those green leafy vegetables are known to be rich in vitamins and also high in fibre. Plus adding other unique ingredients like semi dried tomatoes can pack a unique taste that makes it different from what you are used to eating. If you want to make an impression on your friends and close relatives during gatherings, one of the things that you can do is prepare a mouthwatering salad dish that will be the talk of the town. Here are a few tips that you can use to make some restaurant style salads that you will be proud of.

Dressing

Salads are quite easy to prepare, but the taste of the dressing can make a huge difference. There are a lot of salad dressings that can be bought from your local supermarket but making them from scratch will set your salad apart. Make sure to use only the freshest ingredients. For example, the most common dressing would be vinaigrette. Mix two parts of extra virgin olive oil into one of apple cider vinegar and add other ingredients like honey, mustard, pine nuts and fresh basil leaves to give it a unique taste. You are not required to follow standard recipes for your salad dressing; you can mix and match certain ingredients and season it according to your liking.

Make your greens tastier

Lettuce, cabbage and other greens are known to be bland in taste. The reason why fancy salad restaurants taste better is because of added seasoning. You do not have to make things complicated. Sprinkle your greens with a dash of salt and pepper and squeeze a little bit of lemon and taste the difference. If you prefer, grate some lemon or orange peels, which would work wonders as well. If you want to give your salad a variety of flavours and texture, you can buy different types of lettuce such as romaine, bib and iceberg. Add some watercress, spinach arugula, cucumber and carrot sticks for added crunch.

Add some protein

Salads do not have to be dull and boring. Aside from your greens, you can add some protein-rich foods to make it extra special. If you are about to serve food to vegetarians, you can add some deep-fried tofu so they could enjoy your salad. You can also add grilled chicken breast or tuna flakes to add more flavour to the dish.

Salads are one of the staple foods during special occasions. You do not have to possess extraordinary culinary skills to whip up something unusual. You can use the internet to research or watch some YouTube videos and learn from the experts.
