They find an unknown work of Jackson Pollock after a raid in Bulgaria

Bulgarian police claim to have found an unknown Jackson Pollock painting in Sofia after a raid on art smuggling. The work was found in the capital of the country, within the framework of an investigation coordinated by Europol, Greece and Bulgaria that ended with the arrest of four people.

As reported by the Bulgarian National Radio, the work could have a value of about 50 million euros (54 million dollars). However, no details or description about the painting have been given.

Petar Todorov, chief secretary of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, told the Novinite news agency that "to our joy, we managed to establish and maintain this painting, and at the moment, experience shows that it is an original."

The American Jackson Pollock had a very personal artistic style. Known for his technique of pouring and dripping paint in wild patterns onto large canvases, the artist is one of the most important figures in the Abstract Expressionist movement of the 1940s and 1950s.
