Nacho's story has moved the community after being found wandering through a town in Badajoz in deplorable conditions after being abandoned.
Several people came together to rescue the defenseless animal, which had been the victim of "the worst of human aberrations," according to witnesses.
The greyhound was found in a lamentable state, malnourished and with obvious signs of abuse. “He had a rope tied to his hip and his member was exposed raw, outside the skin that covers the penis and testicles. It was urgent because of the high temperatures and the risk of infection," says the caregiver from the Hachiko shelter.
Nacho was transferred to the veterinarian whose first reaction was that he had suffered "the worst of human aberrations." Verónica, founder of the shelter, comments that "they had to remove his penis because it was necrotic, the veterinarians had never seen anything like this."
The shelter is looking for a family that understands Nacho's special needs and is willing to give him the love and patience he needs to adjust to a new environment.
In Spain, it is estimated that there are at least 288,000 dogs and cats that have been abandoned, a figure that could increase considerably if they were included in the annual report on abandonment and adoption carried out by the Affinity Foundation.
