The Sala Barcelona concert cycle returns this month to Montjuïc Castle

The Sala Barcelona concert cycle returns this summer with around twenty performances at the Castell de Montjuïc. The parade ground of the venue will be filled with live performances this summer with an equal, inclusive, diverse and plural line-up. The initiative, which this summer celebrates its third edition after a year of hiatus, is a co-production of the Barcelona Institute of Culture and the concert halls integrated into the ASACC (Associació de Sales de Concerts de Catalunya). The flamenco fusion singer Queralt Lahoz will inaugurate this Thursday, June 29, a cycle that will last throughout the summer with a performance every Thursday until September 21.

In the summer sessions the public will be able to enjoy nights of guitars with Bala or Exnovios, African rhythms by the Alma Afrobeat Ensemble or Kwame Adzraku, the Mexicans Son Rompe Pera and the electronics of TMATNB and Nil Ciuró, among others. Apart from the invited artists, a program of local DJs has also been included, who will entertain the evening until midnight.

Sala Barcelona was born with the aim of helping the city's concert halls at a critical time for these establishments, such as the pandemic caused by Covid-19. In this post-pandemic edition, the project seeks to support concert halls in the city that have a smaller capacity, less than 250 people.

These rooms are important for the growth of artists and their careers. Many of them are affected in the summer months, with stops in their programming and even having to close their doors due to the number of festivals, major festivals and other outdoor events on offer.

The space chosen to host this edition has a capacity of up to 400 people, it will allow you to enjoy the concert in a hybrid way: with tables and chairs or standing to dance and enjoy live music. It will also have a gastronomic offer, which will be announced shortly on its social networks and a shuttle bus service to Plaza España at the end of each concert. The price of the performances ranges between 12 and 18 euros, in an attempt by the organization has tried to follow a policy of prices that are affordable.
