The Palau de la Música aims for 50% more spectators in 2026

The Palau de la Música wants to increase the number of spectators by 50% to reach 600,000 in 2026. Furthermore, with the aim of growing the institution's community and strengthening its financial independence, it proposes doubling its influx of visits and reaching the 400,000 within the next three years. To achieve this, its directors are committed to reinforcing choral singing and articulating a musical program of excellence open to a plurality of styles beyond classical music, such as jazz and popular music.

With the aim of increasing the influx of visitors, the institution will follow the line of transformation of other tourist spots in Barcelona, such as Casa Batlló or the CaixaForum, and will experiment with immersive technology to replace the traditional video that complements the guided tours of the building. modernist. In addition, it will incorporate a permanent show that reflects the richness of Catalan culture, to position the musical center as a mandatory stop on Barcelona's tourist route.

"Music is not just entertainment, it is a tool to improve people's lives", said the president of the Palau de la Música Foundation, Joaquim Uriach, in the presentation of the institution's new 2023-2026 strategic plan. The event also included the presence of Joaquim Uriach, president of the Fundació Orfeó Català-Palau de la Música Catalana.

The focus on choral singing aims to promote this artistic expression in Catalan, both locally and internationally, and promote the practice among new generations. In association with L'Orfeó Català, a choral singing program will be launched in schools for young people and children, to promote the practice and contribute to its development in today's society.

The Palau de la Música will have the announced new space, called Porta del Palau. It will be located on the renovated Via Laietana in downtown Barcelona in order to increase the visibility of the institution. The 300 square meter premises will house a store, a space with ticket offices and an exhibition area. Although there is still no exact opening date, it is estimated that the Porta del Palau will be a reality at the end of next year.

The novelty in this year's objectives plan has been the incorporation of a sustainable axis. “Sustainability is not a fashion, it is a strategic point,” explained the president of the entity, and that is why the organization has set the goal of becoming an actor in social transformation and investing in sustainable development objectives.

The transformation will conclude with several transversal projects such as a quality evaluation plan to determine the level of customer satisfaction, a new project to make use of the different spaces inside and outside the Palau, and an innovation and digitalization program.

The Orfeó Català-Palau de la Música Catalana Foundation launched a new and updated website, aimed at making it easier for its users to purchase tickets. The entire Palau offer is now brought together in the domain palaumusica.cat (unifying the previous visits.cat and orfeocatala.cat) so that the user can find what they are looking for easily and quickly.
