The hour of orange wines in Bocanariz

When Argentines Cristian Viera and Paula Mathews opened Bocanariz in the midst of a wave of restrictions due to the pandemic, they did not imagine that it would be a color, orange, that would end up differentiating them from other wine bars specializing in natural wines.

But they had a good sense of smell, never better said, and although they did not want to limit themselves to a single type of wine, they decided to join the trend for brisados, bringing them closer to the Barcelona public through tastings and talks with small producers.

Now they have become something like a little paradise for orange lovers, since their vain crescendo and already have more than 40 references. Seven of them serve them by the glass on a menu that changes every fortnight, and they have even decided to dedicate one hour a day (from 7 to 8 p.m.) to orange wines, promoting their consumption with a completely free appetizer for each glass of wine.

In Bocanariz you will also find good tapas to accompany each sip, such as this season's roasted figs with goat cheese, honey and pistachios -which has become the most requested dish-, or the delicious rice and seaweed cookie nori with marinated tuna cubes, ponzu sauce and wasabi sorbet reflecting chef Paula Mathews' travels through Asia.

The atmosphere of this wine bar located in the Gràcia neighborhood is relaxed and pleasant. There is also good music, always played on vinyl, another of the house's big bets.
