Santa Coloma de Gramenet and BesArt The River Museum have joined the program of activities of the World Peace Forum Barcelona 2023 with an artistic installation, the Peace Wall, which is the result of a set of community, school and association actions.

The setting was the Besòs Fluvial Park, in front of the Can Peixauet bridge, in the municipality of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, where the mural for peace was presented and previously delivered to the representatives of the five World Peace headquarters. Forum, a large letter of the five that make up the word PEACE, and which will preside over the sessions that will take place at: Royal Artistic Circle, Fomento del Treball, Official College of Architects of Catalonia, University of Barcelona and Liceu Conservatory.

Within the framework of the BesArt project, an open-air urban art museum, on the left bank of the Besòs River we can find the new Peace Wall, where national and international artists, entities, schools and citizens have left their mark in recent years. two weeks with paintings, drawings and messages in favor of peace in 60 languages.

This collective work, in which more than 500 people have participated, was presented last Wednesday with the presence of the mayor, Núria Parlon, and the representatives of the institutions, organizations and entities that make up the World Peace Forum and the BesArt The RiverMuseum.

The mayor stressed that "art is necessary, and by this we mean that it cannot be isolated from reality and must send a message of peace and awareness to all citizens," and added that "it is a great pride." that Santa Coloma can host the peace mural, that call for peace with the commitment of our citizens, at a time when war cruelly hits us with chilling images."

The president of the World Peace Forum, José Fèlix Bentz, also raised his voice in favor of peace "enough of wars, we are in the 21st century and after many years war conflicts are returning and we have them next to us, to the north with Russia and Ukraine and to the south with Israel and Palestine, in a very tragic way. Humanity must solve this, and from society we must take the first step with initiatives such as the World Forum and the Peace Wall."

The World Peace Forum is an international event promoted by the Schengen Peace Foundation and the European Development Foundation that this year will be held in Barcelona between November 23 and 25 and has the collaboration of prominent civil society institutions. Throughout these 3 days, prominent personalities from the economic, political, cultural and associative fields will meet in Barcelona to debate the future and peace.

The World Peace Forum will serve as the starting point for the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights.
