Guitar BCN says goodbye to its 34th edition with more than 60,000 attendees at more than 50 concerts

The violin of the American Lindsey Stirling will bring to a close this Wednesday a new edition -and there are 34- of Guitar BCN, the main music hall festival in the city. Performances such as that of the French Zaz, Joe Satriani, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Andrés Calamaro or Bob Dylan's double concert at the Liceu brought together more than 60,000 people, a milestone in the history of the festival. “It has been a continuous commitment even in the most difficult moments, but the spectators respond every year by filling the rooms” commented Joan Roselló, director of the festival, recalling that the event did not stop even during the pandemic.

This year's program, the second of absolute normality, will conclude in a Palau de la Música with the role practically sold out to attend the Stirling show where she combines pop, rock and electronic music in a show choreographed with the personal style that has led her to carry out several world tours.

Among the more than 50 concerts scheduled in this edition, along with the most famous names, those of emerging artists who have also had their space such as Mr Kilombo, El Jose or Laura Andrés stand out. Although perhaps the most notable thing is the notable female presence, which has taken over 40% of the performances, some of them presenting new material as was the case with Suu, Christina Rosenvinge, Judit Neddermann, Elena Gadel, Ana Mena or Pasión Vega. "I love knowing that we have arrived there naturally, not forced," says Judit Llimós, the festival's artistic director, to remember that this percentage does not come from any pre-set quota, but rather from the festival's own dynamics. "We are getting closer to equal programming on our own merits."

The next edition will begin on January 26 with Sole Giménez, one half of Presumptos Implicados, who will review her 40-year career mixing the hits released with the well-known pop group during the 80s and 90s and the songs from a solo career that began in 2004. The French-born vocalist presented her latest title in 2021, “Mujeres de música Vol. 2”, a project that vindicates the figure of the creative woman. and that he will present at the Palau de la Música.
