A Vinaròs clinic saves the life of a dog that nobody wanted to operate on

A veterinary clinic in Vinaròs has managed to save the life of a dog from Cádiz that nobody wanted to operate on. The protagonist of this story is Rex, a 6-year-old Siberian husky who was diagnosed with a serious tumor on his face.

The dog suffered from a very rapidly growing fibrosarcoma, which caused him to have labored breathing and to be unable to see well. His prognosis was so complicated that all the veterinarians his owner went to in Andalusia ruled out operating on him.

Faced with this complication, Rex's owner, Damián, decided to post a video on social networks in the hope of going viral and finding a veterinarian willing to help his dog. And luckily for both of them, the strategy worked.

Days later, the director of an animal sanctuary told Damián to contact the Faunivet Clinic in Vinaròs. “Given the distance from Cádiz, they first sent us some photos and we told them that we saw it as feasible to operate it. They did not think about it and they made the 900 kilometers to here to be able to make a visit before the surgery. After assessing it, we decided to do it," explained Nacho Martín, owner of the clinic and veterinarian who operated on Rex to El Periódico de Aragón.

The operation was not easy given the complication of the tumor, which affected a delicate area of the muzzle that compromised the dog's breathing. "There were three and a half hours of surgery, removing the entire tumor and subsequently reconstructing the tissues of the face and nose," the veterinarian reported.

The intervention was a success and Rex's evolution is going according to plan. "He already eats and already walks, with which we are very happy and satisfied with how everything has gone", specified Nacho Martín.

Rex and his owner will still spend a few days in Vinaròs to monitor the dog's evolution and carry out a daily control of the tissue reaction. If everything goes according to plan, the dog will be able to lead a normal life from now on.
