The separation of a mother from her puppies can be traumatic. That was the case of a golden retriever, to whom her breeder underwent an artificial insemination procedure. Furthermore, before she was adopted by a family, this dog spent most of her time in a cage, a space that was too small and would end up taking its toll on her.
After living that experience, Eleanor didn't want to leave the bathroom at home. She also didn't want to walk down the street or interact with other dogs. Her fear reached such a point that her owner had to hold her in her arms, according to The Dodo portal.
Everything changed the day they gave him a stuffed animal, which he took care of as if it were his son. "We realized that she was treating this toy as if it were one of her puppies," explains the owner in a video broadcast by this medium.
Eleanor couldn't let go of the stuffed animal. She took it everywhere: in all the rooms on the street and even when she went out. It was almost like a relief to her loneliness and her sadness.
From there, the dog regained the vitality she had lost. She interacted with other dogs, she followed her owner everywhere, she was affectionate and dared to go to all the rooms in the house, because there was no longer any fear of open spaces left.
X users (formerly Twitter) have also been struck by Eleonora's story. "Seeing her treat the toys like they were her puppies almost made me cry. I'm glad to know she was rescued and treated with love and care," says one. "Thank you for being there to save an angel's precious life," adds another.
