The Postmaster General claims he has been cleared by federal investigators

DeJoy stated that "as I stated from the beginning, and have maintained throughout the process, I was confident the Justice Department would find all my activities lawful after a thorough examination," in a statement to The Associated Press. "I have adhered to the law throughout my professional and personal life."

He said that he was not surprised that the department had completed its investigation and that it was a relief that this episode was over.

The Justice Department declined comment. However, it is common for department officials not to make the announcement to lawyers. DeJoy spokesmen said that DeJoy's lawyer received the notification from department.

DeJoy is a former logistics executive who was also a GOP donor. He was appointed postmaster general by the Board of Governors, which is controlled by Donald Trump. The position is still held by him in the Biden administration. His spokesperson confirmed that a Justice Department investigation was underway last June. He said that investigators were looking into campaign contributions made to him by private sector employees.
