“You are not alone”: Ana Rosa's strong message on World Breast Cancer Day

Ana Rosa Quintana was forced to stay away from television after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The presenter, now recovered, wanted to take advantage of World Breast Cancer Day to send a message and give visibility to this disease. She has done it with the naturalness that characterizes her and taking advantage of her own experience.

Staring at the camera, Quintana did not hesitate to give an emotional speech to raise awareness among viewers about the importance of talking and researching this disease. Direct and concise, she began her speech by saying “there is a scary word: cancer.” And she has continued explaining how evolved the treatments are and how good it is that little by little this word is ceasing to be a taboo. “You carried that word hidden in your chest and it was never used.”

Since we first heard about this disease, much progress has been made, especially in terms of awareness. In fact, year after year early detection and prevention campaigns grow. Thanks to this, “mortality has experienced a great decrease due to rapid detection and treatments,” according to Ana Rosa in Tarde AR.

Quintana made it clear in her speech that “there are words that should not be limited,” and after that intervention she did not hesitate to send a strong message to all women who are suffering from the same illness that she suffered: “You are not alone.” And not only that, but she has made it clear that it is a collective fight.

“We are going to unite because we should not and do not want to be alone. Overcoming the fear of that word is the first step to healing,” she stated. And with those words she has ended his speech. Although this has not been the first time that Ana Rosa speaks in the first person about this disease.

In the last interview she did with Carmen Maura on her program, Tarde AR, the presenter fully shared that she had had to change her routine to be able to go to the doctor, given her new work schedule. But she also confessed that this change has not been pleasant at all.

The presenter said that “before I went late in the afternoon and I didn't meet anyone,” but now she has to go in the morning. “When I'm waiting in the waiting room and I see so many children, it breaks my heart,” she said sadly.

Quintana has not been afraid to be transparent about her illness since she was diagnosed. In fact, on her show he had already spoken openly about her. When José Coronado visited the set, the presenter did not hesitate to tell him how she lives after suffering from such an illness.

Now you have learned to relativize and prioritize. Above all, his health, which is why he has ignored the doctors who have advised him to rest. “My doctors think what I do is good, but it is very stressful and they want me to rest a little more,” which is why he has decided to take off on Fridays.
