Two weeks before the second season of Reacher premiered, actor Alan Ritchson appeared on social media to announce that there would be a third. The striking thing about the renewal was that Ritchson communicated it from the filming set in Toronto: the episodes were already underway. And, after the second season finale aired on January 19, we began to have information about future installments.

This time screenwriter Nick Santora will adapt Lee Child’s seventh novel focused on the character of Jack Reacher, the homeless man with a past as a military policeman who is dedicated to delivering justice and punches wherever he goes. Published with the title of The Inductor or Reckoning in Spanish, the novel has the following synopsis:

“While walking through Boston, Jack Reacher sees the face of a man he met when he was in the army and who should have been dead for ten years. From that moment on, Reacher has only one purpose: to finish him. It’s not going to be easy at all. His prey is related to an illegal network that is being investigated by the DEA. Reacher will be forced to act as an undercover agent to achieve his objective. He knows it is a suicide mission, but he is not one of those who leaves jobs half done.”

It is confirmed, therefore, that Santora, until now known for creating the action series Scorpion, does not adapt the novels chronologically. The first season was based on the first book titled Dangerous Zone and published in 1997; the second took Bad Luck as a reference, the eleventh installment published in 2007, which allowed us to better understand the protagonist’s past; and now it is the turn of this El inductor, which is the seventh novel in the collection and hit bookstores in 2003.

The other key element for the new chapters is that, in addition to Alan Ritchson as the titular hero, Maria Stein will continue on the payroll as Frances Neagley, who served in the Special Investigations Unit of the United States Army with Reacher.

He appeared in five episodes of the first season, became a regular character in the second and will repeat these functions in the next in this series that changes plot, setting and cast every year. Behind the cameras, Nick Santora will continue as writer, executive producer and showrunner, with Child serving as executive producer.

For Amazon, Reacher is a key asset of Prime Video, its streaming platform. When the first three episodes of the second season were released in December, the audience in the first three days exceeded the data for the entire first season by 50%.

It became the most watched series on the platform in 2023 and the biggest success since the arrival of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in the Prime Video catalog in September 2022.
