However, there is an explanation why the eternal protagonist of High School Musical looks like this, and it is not due to an aesthetic whim.
The 36-year-old actor has not undergone plastic surgery or aesthetic treatments for pleasure, but out of necessity. This is how he explained it himself in 2022, revealing that his new appearance is due to a domestic accident.
The actor gave an interview to Men's Health magazine in which he explained how he had experienced his long and hard process of facial transformation. The performer suffered an unfortunate domestic accident in 2018, slipping on a pair of socks while he was running around his house and having the bad luck to hit his chin on a granite countertop. The impact was such that the actor was left unconscious. When he woke up, he says he literally had his "chin bone hanging" from his face.
After the fall, the actor was immediately taken to the hospital, where his long recovery and rehabilitation process would begin. The increase in muscles around his jaw as a result of the impact, plus the scarring after surgery caused the size of his face to increase considerably.
Furthermore, it was not his first injury in the area, as he had previously broken his jaw in 2013, after slipping on a puddle and falling face-first onto the ground.
However, the actor admits that he was not aware of the commotion he had caused until much later, until his family alerted him to the news that was spreading on social networks, which suggested that his face was the result of cosmetic retouching.
