Tom Holland opens up about his alcohol addiction: ''It really scared me''

Tom Holland is one of the great stars of Hollywood. The interpreter began his career in the world of cinema from a very young age, giving audiences great performances such as Lucas, in the film The Impossible, starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts and directed by Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona.

But his career began to shine when he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing one of the most famous superheroes on the big screen and who has been adapted the most times, Spiderman. Since then, the actor has been reaping success after success and carving out an enviable career.

But although fame can be something positive for many of the professionals in the sector, for others it can be an adverse factor, which rather than facilitating day-to-day life can cause more complications. That is what has happened to actor Tom Holland.

The actor has given a recent interview on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast, where he has opened up about his personal problems and how they caused him to end up falling into the well of addictions such as alcohol. During the two-hour interview, the actor has talked about mental health, family, work and his drinking problems.

The young interpreter acknowledged that he stopped drinking for a month, after realizing that he had consumed a lot of alcohol that past Christmas. At that point, Holland realized that he had a serious drinking problem. During those thirty days of abstinence, the interpreter assured that he could only think about consuming alcoholic beverages. ''I would wake up thinking about it. He scared me a lot. He thought, 'maybe I have a problem with alcohol,' 'he confessed.

Therefore, Zendaya's boyfriend decided to stop drinking in the following month. But the young man recognized that during all this time he felt very isolated from society. ''He felt he couldn't be social. He felt that he could not go to the pub and have a drink,'' said the interpreter of The Crowded Room. Despite the difficulties, the artist continued with his abstinence and after several months he understood that this was the best thing he could do.

The Marvel actor revealed that thanks to his ability to stop drinking, he managed to sleep better, have more patience and exercise more. Something that also helped him feel more proud of himself was seeing that it inspired his mother to stop drinking too. ''I can't believe the difference I feel from not drinking. Yeah, I feel amazing,'' Holland said.
