The Treasury withdraws 51 witnesses from his trial against Shakira for tax evasion

Shakira's life continues to give something to talk about with each passing day. The Colombian singer returned to Barcelona last Sunday, coinciding with the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, to pass her children to her father. However, her separation with Gerard Piqué has gone into the background while her situation with the Treasury has regained strength. And it is that the State Attorney has resigned 51 witnesses in the trial of the artist for tax evasion.

The Tax Agency would have disposed of more than a third of the participants in the case, the vast majority of whom were Shakira's acquaintances and neighbors during her stay with Piqué in Esplugues de Llobregat. This would have been approved by the magistrate in charge of the case, José Manuel del Amo, who met with the Prosecutor's Office and the State Attorney's Office several weeks ago to review their lists and reconsider whether or not all the witnesses were relevant to the case.

This represents a new twist on the upcoming trial, in which the native of Barranquilla sits in the dock for allegedly evading 14.5 million euros. This would mean a possible sentence of 8 years and 2 months in prison, in addition to a fine of another 23.8 million euros, all after refusing to reach an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office. The Colombian is convinced of her innocence and has been meeting with her lawyer for some time to prepare her defense.

To this day it is unknown if the international artist will be present in court or will only send her legal team. It is rumored that the trial could last around three weeks, and that Shakira would only be present at the last of these days. This would happen so that the singer could be present at the last word, while she would follow the rest of the judicial process by video call in Miami, where she has been living since April.

Shakira's situation with her taxes is not the only headache that awaits her on her return to Barcelona. Several rumors of a possible relationship with Lewis Hamilton, seven-time world champion and Mercedes driver, have sprung up from her appearance at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Along with this, the serial of her separation with Gerard Piqué will be the star theme in the coming weeks, especially knowing that the singer was returning with her children.

Sasha and Milan, the couple's children, will spend a few weeks in Barcelona with their father. This is because the school year has already ended in the United States, where the children are currently studying. It was speculated that it would be the soccer player who would travel to Miami to personally pick up the minors. In the end it has turned out to be the opposite case due to a bureaucratic problem with the ex-Barça soccer player.
