The large luxury hotel that Gerard Piqué is building in Malaga begins its work

Málaga has always been a symbol of luxury, celebrities and modernity; Therefore, it is not surprising that the Andalusian capital attracts such a number of investors interested in developing any type of project. One of the last, Gerard Piqué, who at the beginning of the year dared with a new adventure: the development of a luxury hotel in the historic center of the city, where the Andalusian cinema was formerly located.

Located next to the famous Plaza de la Merced and between Victoria and Mundo Nuevo streets; This new hotel will belong to the Meliá chain, and will have five floors plus an attic, in which 128 rooms will be distributed. A five-star accommodation that has already begun construction.

This new hotel will be part of ME, one of the lines with the best recognition in the luxury segment of the hotel chain. A project in which everything possible will be done to combine avant-garde architecture, design, art, gastronomy and luxury; with its facades in white colors and the characteristic limestone of Malaga, connecting with the essence of the Andalusian capital.

The design of the hotel is inspired by the already erected ME Milan, which has become a landmark in the capital of northern Italy. It will also have a restaurant, to liven up leisure in the city center; as well as a convention center and gym for its guests.

However, the hotel's great attraction will be on its upper floor. From the penthouse you can not only see the best views of the city, but it also aspires to become one of the fashionable places in part thanks to its huge heated outdoor infinity pool. The space will also have a bar and restaurant; seeking to become the epicenter of social life.

After starting the works, it is expected to open at the end of 2024, after having to stop after archaeological remains of the medieval Islamic necropolis of Jabal Faruh were found under the ground. Once the archaeological surveys were completed, work resumed as normal.

Among all Gerard Piqué's projects and investments, one stands out, and that is that the player owns industrial warehouses, garages and numerous houses; in addition to this future hotel. All these securities are managed by the same company, Kerald Holding, chaired by the former player's father, Joan Piqué.

Kerald Holding acquired the land on which the future hotel will be built for 20 million euros from its owners, the commercial company Inversiones y Acquisiciones de Hoteles SL. As we have mentioned previously, the Meliá chain will be in charge of its management and operation, thus strengthening its presence on the Costa del Sol in one of the areas with the greatest urban projection in the capital.
