This past Monday, November 20, the news broke that a man had been arrested in the municipality of Miranda de Ebro, in Burgos, for having beaten and chained a woman in her home. The woman appeared a few hours later at the Santiago Apóstol hospital with injuries to her face and her hands completely tied.
The authorities identified the alleged perpetrator of the events and after being placed at the disposal of the Guard Investigative Court of the municipality of Burgos, his release was ordered. Days later, Carmen, the woman who suffered the attack, gave an interview to the Sonsoles Ónega program, where she recounted the entire ordeal she experienced and showed the terrible injuries she had because of her attacker.
But this same Friday, the court again took statements from the victim and a witness, who was supposedly at the home at the time the events occurred. These two statements have been key for the judges to decree provisional imprisonment without bail for the alleged aggressor.
Furthermore, this same Friday, the afternoon program of Sonsoles Onega exclusively broadcast the images of the exact moment in which the police took the alleged aggressor to court at the request of the judge. In the images, we can see how the man left the house with difficulty walking and noticing the presence of the program team.
After the arrest, Carmen intervened again in the Antena 3 space and claimed to be satisfied with the new precautionary measure that the judges had decreed and relieved that this man was no longer on the street. During her visit to the court, Carmen confessed that she only met the partner of the present aggressor, and that she also witnessed the events that occurred at the home.
''I told him that he had seen it all and why I was supporting him. I even asked her if he had threatened her with his family. She bowed her head and tears came to her eyes. With that he gave me to understand that he did,' he stated. ''There are many abused women and I ask all the women in the world who have been in my situation to not let it happen, to not wait a minute,'' he asserted.
