Recipe for success: the Mango collaboration that combines Italian tailoring and Catalan design

Working with four hands can blur a collection or, on the contrary, enrich it. Mango Man knows well the risks of this way of working and that is why he does not rush when choosing his collaborations. His last creative duo was pre-pandemic, with the sports fashion house Mistral and now, five years later, he returns with a union that will conquer the modern man who seeks versatility without giving up high-end tailoring.

The Catalan brand traveled to Milan this Tuesday to celebrate the first launch of its collection with Boglioli, the house founded in the 20th century that preserves the legacy of Italian tailoring of yesteryear. The architecture, art and design of both Italy and Barcelona are the ingredients of a recipe for success in which textile cultures and traditions, sartorial history and innovation are mixed in equal parts.

A construction elevator takes guests to the 18th floor of the Torre Velasca in Milan. This iconic building of Milanese architecture, which is under construction and will soon house luxury apartments, has been converted for one night into an avant-garde showroom for the presentation of Mango. The overwhelming view of the city of Italian fashion par excellence - from the terrace you can almost touch the Duomo - contrasts with the minimalism of the room, covered with white fabrics and presided over by eight hangers in which the pieces of the collaboration are displayed .

A first taste of an exclusive collaboration that, in the words of the creative director of the Catalan brand, Roberto Pastore, reformulates the concept of tailoring: “Taking into account that American women tend to associate themselves with formal events, our objective was to change the focus and obtain proposals comfortable, perfect for everyday use or for going to the office, thanks to the light and adaptable materials,” he explains.

Each jacket has been named in honor of an Italian city - Cremona, Lodi, Milano, Mantova, Brescia, Como, Monza and Lecco - and comfort and lightness prevail in its construction. In terms of fabrics, the use of flannel and wool knit stands out to create silhouettes that adapt easily to the figure and its color palette, with browns, greens and grays, evoke the Mediterranean and the relaxed style that prevails. on the streets of Barcelona. Tweed and pinstripes, the maximum expression of Italian style, have their place in several models of the line.

Made with Italian fabrics and made in European workshops, the new Boglioli jackets for Mango have a price of 249.99 euros and are available from this Tuesday on the Catalan brand's website and in selected European stores.

A large white table surrounded by designer pieces by Catalan artisans awaits guests to close the visit with a great dinner. Like the line, the menu includes ingredients from Italian cuisine and Catalan tradition, made with four hands by chefs Fran Agudo and Viviana Varese. Journalists, influencers from Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain, gather together with the Mango organization around this table as the perfect finishing touch to close an evening that celebrates the mix of textile traditions.

Mango Man, which just this week announced that it plans to close its year with a record turnover of more than 325 million euros, wants to expand this idea of high tailoring and versatile design beyond the capsule collection. This month the firm will launch Selection, a timeless, sober and minimalist premium line, which, according to Pastore, "will be made up of garments made with exceptional materials and qualities" that will have the function of building a wardrobe "that will stand the test of time." .
