Rain of criticism against Frank Cuesta for his accusation of Daniel Sancho

The case of Daniel Sancho has been one of the topics that has been discussed the most in the press in this country during this last year. Rodolfo Sancho's son is accused of having murdered and dismembered Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta in Thailand.

Eight months after the crime, and after the report prepared by the police with all kinds of details, the trial took place between April and early May. With this, everything has been seen for the sentence, which will be released on August 29. And although at first everything indicated that Sancho would be sentenced to murder with premeditation, now it seems that it could be without it.

If Daniel Sancho's defense was clear about one thing from the first moment, it was that they wanted to ensure that this premeditation was not proven in order to avoid life imprisonment or even the death penalty. Something that the Prosecutor's Office and the prosecution were looking for at first. However, the Arrieta family's lawyer has already given up and just wants him to be convicted, no matter what.

Given this, Frank Cuesta has not hesitated to openly express his opinion on what he thinks of this situation, and he has not left anyone indifferent. “That there is no death penalty and suddenly there is a life sentence, that means that an agreement has been reached in some way and, well, it is something that they have achieved with their balls,” the presenter began to relate.

After this, he wanted to make it clear that, for him, after having read about the subject, he should be sentenced to the death penalty. “That it is not a death penalty or a life sentence? They have bought the judge, the prosecutor or someone. It's that clear. And within public opinion in Thailand it would not be understood”, he stated.

“What can you buy everything in Thailand? Well yes, but they cannot break the reputation, first of all of the police. Do you know what they say in Spain, and who the Prosecutor's Office depends on? Okay, now I tell you, who does corruption in Thailand depend on?” he concluded.

Given this, Carmen Balfagón has assured Semana magazine that what Frank Cuesta has expressed “lacks foundation.” A criticism that is joined by many on social networks, who do not look favorably on the presenter's statements going against the Thai judicial system.

“We must have a little more respect for the professionals who are in charge of determining a fair sentence for the inmate. No buying from the judge, if it couldn't be done, it couldn't be done,” said one user. “You may have the problem if you mess with the judges,” another added.
