Prime Video's new 'Operación Triunfo' reveals the 50 songs that can be sung in the castings

The return of 'Operación Triunfo' can mark a before and after in the future of music programs in Spain. The mythical project created by Gestmusic will return to our screens starting in autumn, this time exclusively on the Amazon platform, Prime Video. The casting calls to choose the contestants for this new edition are just around the corner, and the selection team has already revealed what the applicants will be able to sing in the first cut.

Test takers have posted a list of 50 songs on Amazon Music, from which auditionees will be able to choose to showcase their vocal talents. The list covers a large number of genres, languages and current and classic artists. From “The Universe About Me” by Amaral to “Fever” by Bad Gyal, passing through “Unstoppable” by Sia or “The Best” by the recently deceased Tina Turner.

As the director of the Academy, Noemí Galera, has clarified, this list only covers the first song that the applicants will sing, implying that the judges could ask them to improvise a second. "If we ask you for more songs, that you sing something else, you can choose the one you want, but the first one must always be one from this list," were her words, thus clarifying the doubts that arose on social networks.

Likewise, in this edition of Operación Triunfo the list of songs can be used for the initiative 'OT Cover'. This "precasting" system aims to save queues in the selection processes and speed up the actions. To do this, those interested must record a song a cappella and without effects for a maximum of 45 seconds. After posting it on Instagram or TikTok with the hashtag

The selection processes for this new edition of 'Operación Triunfo' will start in Barcelona on July 3. From that day until September 19, including a break in August, the caravan of the program will pass through seven other cities: Zaragoza, Santiago, Bilbao, Valencia, Las Palmas, Malaga and Seville, before ending in Madrid. Those who want to appear must be of legal age with the DNI or residence permit in order.

In total there will be up to four selection phases. The first consists of singing a cappella for a minimum of 20 seconds one of the 50 songs on the list. The second phase will be a casting behind closed doors, to be agreed by the program on the day, time and place. If this second cut is passed, a final casting will be held, from which about 20 potential contestants will end up leaving. These will compete before the public in a 'Gala 0' where they will end up determining the 16 final participants.
