Miguel Lago's controversial comment about Álvaro Prieto: "He was white, handsome and no one helped him"

The case of the disappearance of Álvaro Prieto, a Córdoba footballer in the Youth Honor Division, has been one of the main topics in all the media in our country. The 18-year-old disappeared last Thursday, October 12, near the Santa Justa train station in Seville when he was trying to catch a train back to his hometown.

After four days of not knowing the whereabouts of the young man, the worst omens came true this Monday. A reporter from the Spanish Television program Mañaneros discovered the lifeless body of the young man between two carriages of a train that had broken down since last August at the train station in the capital of Seville.

The images broadcast by the public channel caused a great media stir and a great flood of criticism on social networks. Shortly after, the corporation published a message on its social networks apologizing for having broadcast the shocking images in the middle of the morning slot.

As investigation sources have informed EFE, the main hypothesis being considered is that the 18-year-old would have been electrocuted. And according to these sources, the body would be in an advanced state of decomposition and would have "visible signs" that death occurred by electrocution.

The case has revolutionized Spanish news and that is why television programs such as And Now Sonsoles wanted to address the issue live this Monday. But despite the great coverage of the space presented by Sonsoles Ónega, the truth is that the occasional statement by one of its collaborators has opened a new front of controversy.

One of the regular faces of the program in the current affairs section is Miguel Lago. The collaborator generated all kinds of criticism on social networks due to his controversial statements: ''This case saddens me like it does everyone else. At what point are we as a society in which there is a white, handsome, well-dressed kid in a station like the one in Seville, and there is no one at the station, no worker to give him a hand. It makes me think that in this era we live in, we no longer help each other.'' Moments later, the collaborator qualified his words by assuring that "just because he is handsome and young, he does not deserve more or less help."
