Mario Casas confesses an embarrassing anecdote at Antonio Banderas' house: ''After five minutes I fell asleep''

The Movistar Plus program Martínez y Hermanos started its new season with a very special trio of guests, among whom was one of the most acclaimed actors on the current audiovisual scene: Mario Casas.

As it could not be otherwise, brother Óscar Casas went to the space run by Dani Martínez to present his first work as a director: the film My loneliness has wings. Although the man from A Coruña spoke about this exciting project and what it has been like to change his position with respect to the cameras (before he was in front of them as an actor and now behind them as part of the directing team), the host of the program wanted to investigate his beginnings in the world of acting and the small screen.

One of his first television works came with the series SMS, Without fear of dreaming, which aired on La Sexta. In this fiction, Mario Casas coincided for a short period of time with Dani Martínez, who was removed from the project before starting it. ''I did feel loneliness because they kicked me out before I started... And it didn't give me much encouragement,'' Martínez joked.

''It was a profile issue, because you really did it very well. It was a physical thing. A more badass physique was needed. And you had the face of a good kid,'' the guest explained, trying to justify the replacement of Martínez with Raúl Peña.

After explaining that the dismissal of his partner made everyone "shit" for weeks, Casas wanted to publicly tell another anecdote from his beginnings that caught a lot of public attention.

The first time he appeared in a feature film was under the orders of Antonio Banderas in the film The Way of the English, a work of which he feels very proud. However, something happened to him with the director that he remembers with shame. He invited him and other actors from the cast to his house to see Crazy in Alabama, the first film he directed. ''It was 11:30 at night... And five minutes later, I fell asleep (...) Raúl Arévalo, Fran Perea were there... Only I fell asleep. He was nervous ... ''.

After a lot of work, hours of study and preparation and countless projects, Mario Casas managed to show Spanish society that he is much more than the protagonist of Three Meters Above the Sky.

The artist suffered a period of typecasting and social stigma from which he emerged with films and series of the stature of Contratiempo, The Photographer of Mauthausen and The Innocent. His first work as a director has had good reviews and a great popular response, something that encourages the artist to continue creating films and to dedicate himself body and soul to his audiovisual career.
