María Patiño confesses about Rocío Carrasco: "It was an incredible mask drop operation"

The end of Sálvame has left the television careers of many of its collaborators at an intermediate point. One of the most outstanding of the fourteen years of the program's existence is María Patiño. Since she entered in 2014, her career evolved, going from being a collaborator of espacios del corazón to being one of the substitute presenters for Jorge Javier Vázquez, occupying the position until the last broadcast on June 23. A stage that she has a lot to tell about.

The journalist from Ferrol has been the protagonist of the most recent edition of Superlatives, Carlota Corredera's podcast. In it, the Galician has been able to speak at length about her stage in the Mediaset space, as well as leaving several messages to different collaborators, particularly Rocío Carrasco. Patiño confessed to Corredera that she was not comfortable participating in it with Rocío Jurado's daughter, even leaving her a message dedicated to her.

“In this last stage I have been very disappointed. I have always said that what rots the human being is resentment and the need for revenge. As a result of everything that happened with the Rocío series, it was an incredible operation to drop masks ”, explained the former presenter. “Our majority audience is women. We have an enormous responsibility with the message that we convey to the female audience, ”she expanded in this regard.

The turning point that Patiño refers to is Rocío, telling the truth to stay alive, in which Carrasco confessed to the ill-treatment received by her ex-husband, Antonio David Flores. A docuseries that stirred consciences and caused severe changes in the ranks of Mediaset, costing Antonio David the dismissal. There were also opposing visions, such as those of Patiño and Corredera, who found themselves on opposite sides of the spectrum when the documentary was released.

“You feel questioned and you rebel because, who are you, Carlota, to tell me that I am wrong? I remember that at that moment I had a distance from you because your presence even bothered me. She would say: 'the class list is coming up'. She felt questioned by you and thought: 'who is this lady to tell me that I have a macho upbringing?' For this reason, sometimes you have to lower your head and listen, ”she confessed about her interlocutor.

Corredera, producer of the program, was later fired from Mediaset, reasoning that "talking about feminism" "cost her her job." “Despite everything, I have won. When I say that it has taken its toll on me, I don't want people to think that it's better not to show up. I don't want that message to get through. I am going to continue looking for all the windows that I can to continue doing the journalism that I want to do, which is this, I do not want to do the other one, ”she said.
